Just ordered some 220 color and slide films, can't wait until spring time comes. Sure, I missed having the auto focus sometime, but everything about the Bronica makes up for it. It's been a very nice "upgrade" from the Fuji GA645 i used before. The 45mm did not have a finder, but it seems fine to use the built in VF. I did end up getting a Bronica RF645 outfit with 65mm and 45mm. Definately one of the best sleeper cameras on the second hand market (though not a very chear one!) If only there existed a digital back for this, I would never need anything else.
BRONICA RF645 SERVICE MANUAL MANUAL
Excellent manual controls coupled with wonderfully sharp lenses. I still can't get over how easy this camera is to use and learn from. I hope you found yourself a Bronica RF645. They are a great company and you can get a quote directly from their online service center. KEH.com also will service the Bronica RF645. You can check infinity focus and then check close focus.ĭid you try to contact tamron? I thought they would service until the end of 2011 Just remove the small plastic cover at the right of the viewfinder and turn the screw that's underneath it. Can you tell me a little bit more with your technique on adjusting the horizontal alignment? I would say this is a tough camera overall, very nice to use if you can live with its limitations (no close focusing, no TTL view, etc.), but in case you need a serious repair, the cost will likely exceed the one of a body on the used market. Did that, and it's now focusing perfectly just like before. Meanwhile I read on a forum that you could adjust the rangefinder yourself thanks to a screw hidden behind a small plastic cap on the top plate. Tried to find a service house here in Europe : French Bronica workshop (Nikken) says they no longer service these, they kindly pointed me to Intro 2020 who told me they could service it but that it would be fairly expensive. I got scared initially, found a bump on the base plate, then found that the rangefinder had horizontal misalignment. I have recently dropped mine (1m high) on a concrete floor.

What is your experience with reliability?Īlso what is a reasonable price for a kit with 65mm and 45mm lenses? I have read in some forums that Tamron will no longer support it starting 2012. I have not handled the Mamiya 6 but understand the finder has a blue tint.I do not yet own a Bronica RF645 but seriously considering to get a set. RF645 has a non blue tint much like a Leica M6. Function lamp illuminates when shutter is not cocked, light shield curtain is closed, lens mount is retracted or film not loaded. Viewfinder Info: RF645 provides a vertical orientation with a nice backlit LCD displaying shutter speed, f stop, exposure compensation, shooting mode A/P/M, AE lock, self timer, multiple exposure display, strobe charge, and battery status - M6 has traditional LEDs for shutter speed, over/under exposure and bulb, batter capacity. M6 documentation did not indicate if different focal lengths change the shape of the frame representaton as the RF645 does. The corners are defined with a small 90 degree notch, a break, continuing with a solid vertical/horizontal line to the next corner. The 135/100mm display one corner in the upper right - M6 brightlines are illustrated in the owners manual as nearly solid lines. The brightlines depict the frame top and side but do not meet at the corners for the normal 65mm. Reports indicate the entire frame of the internal viewer can be used but with loss of a parallax reference. Real image type rangefinder: Both RF and M6 have this type rangefinder which provides crisp contrast.įramelines: RF645 provides an external aux viewfinder for the 45mm lens. 6X - M6 0.58X showing 83% of field at infinity A difficult choice between these cameras which have more in common with each other than comparisons to the Mamiya 7.Įffective base length (EBL): RF 645 is 33mm or 32.1mm (2 references in same document - M6 EBL 34.8mm I want to replace a 35mm and TLR camera with a medium format rangefinder for general photography. I am passing on info gathered from my research of the Mamiya 6 (M6) owners manual and RF645 sales literature.
